Today you will be picked up from your accommodation in Rio de Janeiro in the morning (between10:30am-11:30am depending on your pick-up location) and transferred to Conceicao de Jacarei, where a boat will be waiting to take you to Ilha Grande. Get dropped off on the pier close to your accommodation upon arrival in the afternoon, and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, then overnight.
* Important Note: There are no banks, cash machines, or money exchange offices on Ilha Grande. Make sure you have enough cash before your transfer, as it is not possible for the driver to stop at one on the way.
Day 2: Blue Lagoon Day Trip
Today make your own way to the pier where a boat will be waiting to take you to Lagoa Azul, or Blue Lagoon, where you can swim and snorkel in the warm tropical waters. In the shallow part of this lagoon, you will see an abundance of colourful corals and fish. The trip will continue with a stop at Praia da Freguesia de Santana, where you will have the chance to discover two beautiful beaches, in addition to the historical Santana Church (built in 1796). This was the first place to be populated on Ilha Grande and in the last century, was considered the centre for economical development on the island. Returning to the boat, you will visit Praia do Japariz and have lunch (not included). Head back to the pier in the afternoon and take the rest of the day to relax and enjoy time at your leisure. Overnight in Ilha Grande.
Day 3. Transfer from Ilha Grande to Paraty
Today you will leave Ilha Grande. Make your own way to the island pier around 1pm and be transferred by boat to Paraty. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, to perhaps explore Paraty’s well preserved historic centre and colonial and weave through its quiet cobblestone streets. Experience one of the lively city centre sidewalks cafes, or party until the sun comes up! Overnight in Paraty.
Day 4. Schooner Boat Tour
Paraty has 65 islands and hundreds of beaches of rare beauty surrounded by lush vegetation, making it ideal for cruises and for snorkelling. The tour includes four stops on two beaches and two islands. You can choose the optional lunch (not included) aboard as well if you're feeling indulgent! During each of these stops you can dive, swim, or snorkel in the crystal clear waters. One of the highlights of the day is the visit to 'Ilha Comprida', which resembles a natural aquarium by the amount of fish that can be seen. Head back in the afternoon and enjoy the evening at your leisure, then overnight.
* Note: All schooners contain a restaurant, which offers a choice of fish or chicken (not included) for lunch.
