Arrive to Manila with an airport pick-up on Day 1. Discover the sights of Manila on a city tour with a local guide on Day 2. Enjoy a free day with time to explore on your own on Day 3, then take an overnight bus to Banaue. Upon arrival on Day 4, you will begin your trek to the picturesque Ifugao village of Cambulo. On Day 5, continue your trek with an easy 2-hour stretch to Batad along scenic rice terraces. On Day 6 trek to Banaue, passing through the typical Banga-an Village. Enjoy a free day on Day 7 and say goodbye to the countryside before taking an overnight bus back on Manila, where your trip comes to an end with an airport drop-off on Day 8.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Manila Airport Pick-up
On your arrival at Manila airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to settle-in and explore the city on your own. Overnight in Manila.
Day 2: Manila Morning City Tour (B)
This morning you will go on an alternative tour of Manila. Explore the pulsating capital by public transportation to have the most authentic and local experience. Visit one of the most important historical sites in Manila, Fort Santiago, built by the Spaniards as a defensive fortress designed to protect the newly formed city of Manila. It is a key feature of the famous Walled City of Manila, which is referred to as Intramuros. Next is a visit of Manila's oasis of relaxation, Rizal Park. Locally known by its previous name Luneta Park or just Luneta, here you will find gardens, historical markers, plazas, a grand stadium, an observatory, an open-air concert hall, an artist's' sanctuary, a light-and-sound theatre, restaurants, food kiosks and playgrounds, and dozens of fountains.
After a visit of the official City Centre of Manila, return to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure to discover more of the city on your own. Overnight in Manila.
Day 3: Manila Free Day & Overnight Bus to Banaue (B)
Enjoy the day at leisure to discover more of the city on your own, and in the afternoon you will be picked-up from your accommodation to be transferred to the bus terminal, where you will catch an overnight air-conditioned bus to Banaue.
Day 4: Cambulo Trek (B/L/D)
On arrival at Banaue bus terminal, you will will be met your personal guide and enjoy breakfast at a local eatery before beginning your new adventure. Using a local tricycle proceed to Kinakin, where you will begin the trek to Cambulo. The traverse usually takes 4 hours, split into 1-hour uphill, 2-hour flat, and 1-hour descent. Along the way see the spectacular mountain views as well as numerous “mini falls” and rice terraces.
Make a stop for lunch before arriving to Cambulo, a picturesque Ifugao village nestled at the foot of a mountain range. The Ifugao thatched huts are well preserved. The local folks, especially the children are very hospitable. On arrival, check-in your new accommodation and overnight.
Day 5: Batad Trek (B/D)
After breakfast continue your trek to Batad. It is an easy 2-hour trek along rolling hills through narrow rice paddies with very few steep portions. The grand finale of the traverse are the terraces of Batad, which form a spectacular amphitheatre. See a typical Ifugao village where most people here still live the lifestyle of their ancestors long gone. Interesting to see are bones of their ancestors bundled, preserved and wrapped in colorful hand woven blankets. Visit Tappiya Falls where you may take a refreshing swim. On arrival, check-in your accommodation, have dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Banaue via Banga-an Trek (B/L/D)
After our breakfast we continue the trek heading to the village of Banga-an which can take a maximum of 5 hours traversing along. There are narrow footpaths so expect the hike to be arduous. Banga-an Village is a typical Ifugao village. Interact with the locals, as well as immerse yourself in the Ifugao way of life. After taking a break at a local eatery to have some lunch, take a hike back to the junction, from where a tricycle will transfer you to your new lodge accommodation in Banaue for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Banaue Free Day & Overnight Bus to Manila (B/L)
Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation before having a free day to enjoy at your own pace, discovering Banaue many hidden gems. Lunch will be provided at your accommodation, and in the afternoon you will be transferred to the bus terminal to catch an overnight aircon bus back to Manila.
Day 8: Manila Airport Drop-Off
This amazing adventure will come to an end with an early Manila airport drop-off around 6am. We wish you safe travels onwards.
