The diving at Thulusdhoo includes sites with turtles on tap, current dives with loads of sharks, rays and larger gamefish hunting overhead. You'll find dive sites where the schools of colourful reef fish are so laid back that you can swim into and become part of the school. Several manta cleaning stations are in the area around Thulusdhoo for perfect encounters with these gentle giants. The manta ray season is from June to October.

Thulusdhoo is a destination that brings together the best of the Maldives: the laid back local island vibe, beautiful beaches, hammocks between palm trees and good diving. What makes Thulusdhoo different from other great destinations, is a strong environmental focus and the work that is being done to re-establish coral on reefs that have been damaged during the coral bleaching event that occurred in 2016 in the Maldives and elsewhere. A unique aspect of Thulusdhoo is that many guesthouses line the beach, all with their hammocks and chillout spaces creating one of the best beach vibes available in the Maldives. Being a surfing destination as well means that Thulusdhoo is a mecca for the young, fit and active crowd, so you will fit right in!

Thulusdho is an island where the surfing and the diving crowds live side by side on the beach. One block away is the real Maldives, the local village with its steady, slow pace of life, white sandy streets and green plants everywhere. It is all very pretty! There is no alcohol on the island, but often, there is a really cool bar-boat just off the island, where you can quench your thirst with a cold beer, while the sun goes down and the tropical heat makes way for the comfortable evening breeze. From June to October you might even see manta rays feeding on the plankton which is attracted by the lights of the bar-boat! Take a mask and snorkel with you and join them in the warm water for an amazing encounter with these gentle giants.

The daily dives of the dive center are done from a most comfortable dive boat, which is highly professionally run by an international dive crew. Dive sites are easily within reach with of a 10 to 45 minute boat ride. The boat goes out 2 times a day, to do 1 or 2 dives. Your dives will be scheduled depending on your level of diving, and the dive sites of the day.

Itinerary - 5 days and 4 nights - 4 fun dives

Itinerary

Arrive Male and hop on a speed boat to Thulusdhoo. The dive center will make your ferry/speedboat booking to Thulusdhoo (pay locally) and provide all details necessary for your transfer. You will be met at the harbour on arrival and taken to your guesthouse. Take a dip in the ocean or stroll around the island until evening time when it is time to check in with the dive center to register for the next day's diving. If you arrive in the morning and want to get in the water right away, step into the dive center and register for the afternoon dive.

Complete up to 4 dives, which are included in your package. You will be able to book additional dives at the dive center locally, if you want to do more than 2 dives a day. However, extra dives and space on the boat is not guaranteed in peak season (November to March).

A day to get the Nitrogen out of your system, relaxing, or exploring the island. If you have a late flight on your departure day, you can do a few more fun dives in the morning (not included).

(some countries will allow you to fly after 18 hours on land).

Just 20 meters from the bikini-beach you'll find the relaxed guesthouse of Akiri Surf Grand, and a few minutes of walking in the opposite direction will bring you to the dive center.
Your breakfast will be served in the cozy restaurant or outdoors in the lounging garden which is lush and green with endemic vegetation and trees to provide shade. Step out of the garden right onto the Bikini-beach to enjoy the turquoise waters. The guesthouse is very popular with surfers as well as divers which provides a great atmosphere.

Each room has A/C, Fan, WIFI, television, refrigerator and a private bathroom with a hot shower. The rooms are cleaned daily. The rooms varies between twin and double bed rooms which can sleep up to 2 people or triple bed rooms with a double bed and a single bed.

Return transfer from Male to Thulusdhoo is not included.
The boat transfer will be arranged by the dive center, unless you have transfer booked already through other sources.
The dive center will contact you prior to your trip, with a confirmation of your choice of island transfer. You will be invoiced for the transfer at the dive center ($3 - $30 one way depending on your choice of slow ferry or speedboat transfer).

Transfer Information:
Unless you have booked a stay in Male or Hulhumale prior to departing to Thulusdhoo, you only need to walk out from the international terminal to the jetty where the speed launches stop for pick-up. (Just outside the airport).

There are three boat departures daily to Thulusdhoo, except on Fridays. The dive center will book you on the first boat after your arrival and send you all the details on how to find the boat, and what time to get on it by email, prior to your arrival in the Maldives. This will happen automatically 10 to 14 days prior to your arrival. However, you are more than welcome to contact the dive center for this information earlier, you will find the contact details on your voucher.
