Full Argentina Adventure - Route 40 (20 nights)

Day 1: Salta

Arrival to Salta (NOT on Tuesdays). Transfer from Airport to accommodation and check in. Free day.

Day 2: Salta - Purmamarca

Breakfast. Salt Flats/Purmamarca Excursion:
Your full-day adventure begins from your Salta hotel or hostel. Admire the scenery as you drive north, winding along the Rio Grande, and climbing through the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Get a glimpse of local life as you pass through the sleepy villages of Yala, Volcan, and Tumbaya, and enjoy plenty of stops to take in the views and snap photos. Arrive in the lively village of Purmamarca, famous for its daily handicrafts market and its spectacular backdrop, in the shadows of the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Hill of Seven Colors). Stand in awe before the multi-hued peaks, then journey on through the Humahuaca gorge, driving along the dramatic mountain passes of Cuesta del Lipan, Cuesta del Saladillo, and Abra del Potrerillo. Jump out to take photos as you climb to a height of 13,615 feet (4,150 meters), marvel at the mountain vistas, and look out for llamas and vicuñas grazing on the hillsides. After an unforgettable drive, arrive at the day’s star attraction - the Salinas Grandes, an awe-inspiring expanse of gleaming white salt flats. You’ll have free time to explore the salt flats, leaving plenty of time to experience the unique landscapes and pose for the ubiquitous forced perspective photos. Head back to Purmamarca and time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Browse the market stalls for handcrafted souvenirs, before the return journey to your accommodation.

Note: Please leave your main luggage in the luggage storage of your accommodation in Salta. You'll spend the night in Purmamarca and you should only take one backpack with you because of the van space and you will also feel more comfortable. Please travel light in order to take these two tours. You will return to the same accommodation the day after and you will have all your luggage to continue your trip.

Day 3: Purmamarca - Salta

Breakfast. Humahuaca Full Day Excursion:
Towns and relics of ancient cultures, superb mountains and the feeling of being in timeless places are the exquisite elements of this trip through the Humahuaca Gorge. You will leave Purmamarca at 09:00 and head north to the province of Jujuy. The small towns of Tumbaya, Purmamarca, Maimará and Tilcara open their ancient charm to your captivated eyes. In Purmamarca, you will stop to see the famous Seven-color hill, in Tilcara, you visit the Pucará (fortress) and the Archeological Museum, while in Uquía you stop to admire the local church. But it’s in Humahuaca where you enjoy in the extremely peaceful atmosphere, the typical colonial architecture and the charming people. In your way back you will also visit San Salvador de Jujuy to get to know its monuments and intriguing legends. Let the history behind the walls and stones of these places take you on a ride to the Argentinean past! Arrival to Salta at 19:00-20:00.

Day 4: Salta

Breakfast. Free day to enjoy optional tours or just relax in beautiful Salta city.

Day 5: Salta-Mendoza

Breakfast. Check Out. In the evening: take the night bus to Mendoza.

Day 6: Mendoza

Arrival in Mendoza. Check in at selected accommodation. At 14:30, Half Day Winery Tour:
This tour runs among vineyards in the areas of Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu. You will experience the work culture brought by of immigrants, using irrigation techniques (canals and ditches) inherited from the former Huarpes Indians. They managed to change a vast desert into a productive river oasis. This is the scene of the settlement of prestigious wineries, which represent Argentine wines in the world with high quality wines. You will visit two wineries, one with traditional organic methods and the other that uses the latest available technology. Guided by professionals in winemaking, you will learn about the vinification methods and processes, bottling and labelling of wines, in the end of the tour you will taste the different grapes that the wineries offer.

Departure: Monday to Saturday: 14:30. Sundays 08:30.

Day 7: Mendoza

Breakfast. At 07:00, Aconcagua Valley Day Trip (Alta Montaña):
The tour offers a variety of colors and sceneries. Early in the morning along the river Mendoza, get a view of the majestic mountain range called Cordon del Plata and the Potrerillos dam, colossal work for hydraulic power generation and water distribution for irrigation. Your next visit will be Uspallata, pre-Hispanic settlement of Huarpes indians and the southern last point of the Inca Empire. Here you will see the Vaults of Uspallata, historic “adobe” (mud) buildings, that were used by chaplain Fray Luis Beltran for casting cannons and guns. Afterwards you will visit the villages of Picheuta, Polvareda, Punta de Vacas and Los Penitentes ski resort. Free time for the use of chair lift to enjoy beautiful panoramic views. Later, you will find Puente de Inca along your route, a huge natural bridge with strands of hot springs. Continuing the road and 2750 meters above sea level you will reach the viewpoint of Cerro Aconcagua, the colossus of America (6959 meters high), from where you are going to the Laguna Horcones and the Aconcagua Provincial Park. Following the international route to reach your last destination, Las Cuevas, an European-style village located 3200 meters above sea level. Back to town at 19:00-20:00.

Day 8: Mendoza-Bariloche

Breakfast. Check out at 11:00. In the evening, take the night bus to Bariloche.

Day 9: Bariloche

Arrival in Bariloche in the evening. Check in at selected accommodation.

Day 10: Bariloche

Breakfast. At 14:30, Mt Campanario and Circuito Chico Half Day excursion:
The tour starts in Bariloche along Bustillo Avenue with an amazing view of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Right at the km. 8 of the road you will find Playa Bonita, from where you can see Huemul Island. Later on, after traversing different landscapes, you will arrive at the foot of Mt. Campanario. There is a chairlift that visitors can use to get to the 1500mts of the hill. There is a tearoom on top and also a terrace where you can admire one of the most complete and beautiful views of northern Patagonia. Returning to the tour along Bustillo Avenue, the bus enters San Pedro Peninsula. At the km. 23 of Bustillo Avenue you will reach Villa Llao Llao, site of the San Eduardo Chapel, a jewel of regional architecture and place of the magnificent Llao Llao hotel. From there the route goes through the Llao Llao Peninsula. After bordering Lake Escondido at km. 33, the road passes over Narrow Bridge Creek, that separates the Moreno Lake from Nahuel Huapi Lake. At km40 you will reach the famous Panoramic Point of 945 meters high, where you can appreciate the majesty of the landscape that make up the Lake Moreno and the Llao Llao Peninsula.

Day 11: Bariloche

Breakfast. At around 09:00, hotel pick up to do the Isla Victoria y Bosque de Arrayanes Boat Trip:
During the tour you will have the unique chance to visit Victoria Island and the incredible Myrtle Forest (Arrayan Forest) - a place with all the exuberance typical of Patagonian plant life. The activity will depart from Bariloche, crossing by boat the Lake Nahuel Huapi to Victoria Island and Quetrihue Peninsula. Prepare to be blown away by the sights and lush vegetation of the area and the enormous Myrtus or Myrtle trees, that grow to an exceptional 18 meters, really making this forest one of a kind!.The Victoria Island and Arrayanes Park tour begins at Puerto Pañuelo, from where you will climb aboard the comfortable boat to travel across Lake Nahuel Huapi towards Port Quetrihue. This is an area that includes the world’s only Arrayan Forest, with trees over 500 years old. You will be able to see the spectacularly tall myrtle tree forest while you walk along the National Park trails leading you through the ancient Arrayanes . The Isla Victoria boat tour will then take you to another port on the Victoria Island, Puerto Anchorena, where you will explore different pathways that offer incredible natural viewpoints of the Nahuel Huapi National Park where you’ll be able to observe rare native species of flora and fauna, making this tour a natural experience! Discover one of the world’s rarest forests and enjoy the exclusive Patagonian landscapes. The Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest Tour will show you impressive views of the Southern Andes. Back to accommodation.

Day 12: Bariloche-El Chalten

Check out. Departure to El Chalten. Night in the Bus.

Note: the time of the bus between Bariloche and El Chalten changes every year, so be prepared for timetable adaptions.

Day 13: El Chalten

Arrival in El Chalten. Accommodation. Free day for self guided trekking trails. Depending on arrival time you can do short “warm up” hikes or try the Laguna Torre.

Day 14: El Chalten

Free day to trek the beautiful paths of Los Glaciares National Park and to take pictures of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. This day you can try to reach Laguna de los Tres, at the base of Mt Fitz Roy, about 8-9 hours to go and return.

Day 15: El Chalten - El Calafate

Check out, in the morning, go on your own to the bus station to take the bus to El Calafate, 3 hours ride. Arrival and go on your own to your accommodation. Check in. Free day to relax and rest or to walk around the Laguna de Nimez.

Day 16: Calafate - Torres del Paine - Calafate

At about 05:30, to be reconfirmed by local guides, Torres del Paine Full Day Tour:
The tour starts from El Calafate. You will reach the border between Argentina and Chile at 10:00 and make the customs procedures. Then you make a stop in "Cerro Castillo" town. At 11:00, you go on to the "Lago Sarmiento", where you stay there for a while to take photographs and to enjoy the amazing landscape. You arrive to "Laguna Amarga" and pay the entrance to the "Torres del Paine National Park" (not included). You go to the "Nordenskjol Lake", from where you are going to admire the imposing sight to the "Cuernos del Paine". Once you arrive to "Pudeto" you visit the "Salto Grande waterfall" where you do a trek. At 17:00, you leave the National Park and make 3 new stops at beautiful viewpoints where you can appreciate the "Paine Range". You arrive to Castillo Hill at 18:00 and come back to Calafate.

Day 17: Calafate

Breakfast. In the morning, time to be reconfirmed by local guides, Perito Moreno Glacier Full Day Tour:
People from all over the world come to this remote place in Southern Patagonia to be a witness of the Ice Age. This is one of the only moving glaciers in the planet, and a visit is not only worth, is a MUST. You start from El Calafate early in the morning to enjoy the landscape, the nature, the fauna and the wide variety of birds (trying to arrive to the glacier before everyone). Through the gateways you visit the north face of the Perito Moreno Glacier, in different viewpoints from different altitudes.

Day 18: Calafate - Rio Gallegos - Ushuaia

Check out 02:00. At 03:00, departure to Rio Gallegos, connecting with another bus to Ushuaia at 08:30-09:00. Arrival in Ushuaia in the night. Check in at selected accommodation.

Day 19: Ushuaia

Breakfast. At 09:00, Half Day Tour to Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego:
Get ready to walk along thousand-year-old paths in the only Argentine National Park that combines sea, mountains and forests. Everything right there in front of your eyes. The list is truly moving: Lapataia Bay, the coast of the Beagle Channel, the most incredible flora and fauna with red foxes, woodpeckers, steamer ducks, condors, eagles, beaver dams and peat bogs, all rubbing shoulders in the most spectacular setting. Here you get right into this beautiful region and you experience it right up close. Back to Ushuaia at about 14:00.

Day 20: Ushuaia

Breakfast. At 09:00, Sea Lion Colony Half Day Boat Trip:
You will leave the local port, in the direction of Alice island to see the colony of sea lions, then you continue to the Birds Island where the king and imperial cormorants inhabit. Nearby, you will enjoy the view of the Rock Cormorants on the cliffs. Then, you navigate towards the Sea Lions Island to see them and also fur seals. Finally, you find Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, which was made in 1919 and it´s the actual symbol of the city. Return to Ushuaia.

Day 21: Ushuaia

Breakfast. Check out and airport drop-off.
