North Ari Sand & Snorkeling Tour - 8 Days

Day 1

Upon arrival at Male International Airport you will be greeted and transferred by 60 minute speedboat journey to the local island of Rasdhoo. Settle in after your flight before taking your first steps on the sands of this tropical urban paradise. Rasdhoo is close to some of the best dive sites in the Maldives so if you’re a diver get yourself signed up at the local dive centre. Divers may wish for an early start tomorrow and opt to join a dive to Hammerhead Point. During the manta season (November to April) there are opportunities for spectacular close encounters with these majestic large rays.

Day 2

Following breakfast head out on a snorkeling tour to discover the underwater world of the Maldives. Your snorkeling guide will act as your ‘spotter’ pointing out marine life that may not have caught your eye and always on the lookout for a manta ray fly by!

Days 3-4

The next two days are free days. For the energetic enjoy the many excursions available including diving, snorkeling and a variety of watersports. For those less active perhaps an excursion with a picnic lunch to a nearby sandbank or uninhabited desert island suits.

As the afternoon cools down wander this quiet island that still retains a local feel. Be sure to stop by a local cafe to sample traditional ‘hedika’ - Maldivian savoury and sweet short eats served with black tea.

Day 5

Today transfer to our next local island destination of Ukulhas. Take time to explore the island and discover why it was the island that led the way for environmental practices. Not only does Ukulhas have some beautiful beaches, the local community here are particularly friendly and will be delighted to engage in conversation with you and show off their home island.

The house reef at Ukulhas is worth getting in the water for and can be accessed easily from the beach.

Day 6

Following breakfast, the day is yours to do as you please.

Late afternoon head out for sunset kayaking or SUP tour. Kayak through the beautiful lagoon whilst enjoying the wonderful colours as the sun sets in the ocean.

Day 7

Today is a free day. For the energetic enjoy the many excursions available including diving, snorkeling and a variety of watersports. For those less active perhaps an excursion with a picnic lunch to a nearby sandbank or uninhabited desert island suits.

Following an early breakfast, join the speedboat for the return journey to Male. Arriving back in Male at 09:00.

Important Note on Local Islands

Local islands are very different from the picture-perfect resort images you may have seen. These are living and working island communities, where daily life is shaped by Islam, family, and in today’s world, tourism. You’ll hear the call to prayer five times a day. On islands closer to Male, you will notice ongoing construction and development for both island infrastructure and new guesthouses or hotels. Every island has its own unique character and charm, offering something different in terms of culture, community, and natural environment.

Additional info

The Maldives is a Muslim country and therefore care needs to be taken with regard to the dress code on the local islands. While it is acceptable for men to wear t-shirts and shorts or swim shorts, women should maintain a more conservative approach by wearing t-shirts, loose shorts or sarongs. The islands we visit are more tolerant of guests wearing traditional beachwear, however, women should avoid wearing bikinis and swimsuits on more public beaches. During the local island tours, where we may have access to mosques and family homes, shoulders and thighs should be covered out of respect for local customs.
