Remember, this is only a route proposal for your big trip. If you wish to receive personal assistance designing your itinerary, please get in contact with our adventurous travel experts. They love designing dream trips and they give you great insider travel advice.
Start your epic South African adventure from Johannesburg, where you will go on a 5 day safari trip in the iconic Krüger National Park. Experience the "wild" side of Africa and if you're lucky, you might get to see the ‘Big 5′, meaning that you will get to encounter (and live among) elephants, lions, rhino, leopards and buffalo. Pretty cool, eh?
Your stay in Cape Town starts with a 2-day orientation, where you will take part in a welcome meeting and a local barbecue party, braai. You will also receive a small welcome pack with a t-shirt, book and sim card. The next morning you will head into Cape Town for a guided walking tour and afterwards you will hop on a bus and head to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront harbor area for good food and drinks.
After the orientation days, the actual volunteering can begin! Work is done 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. Volunteers assist in daily running of the kindergarten and give one-on-one attention to children in need. In order to get the most out of your experience as a volunteer, you need to be positive, proactive and ready for new challenges.
Once the project is over, you can choose to spend more time exploring the city and the surrounding area of Cape Town. If you didn't manage yet, now is the perfect time to hike (or take a cable car) up the Table Mountain, go visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was held in prison during the apartheid era or make a trip to the Cape of Good Hope (and maybe spot some penguins on the way!).
Then it is time to hop onto your return flight home or continue your adventures elsewhere - we’re here to help you out!
