Get to know the beautiful “White City” of Arequipa, named for the white or pink-hued volcanic ashlar stone used to build most of the buildings in the city centre, and the surrounding countryside. See the Plaza de Armas and the streets of the Centro Historico and fall into pace with the laid-back locals. Look out over the city from the scenic overlook points of Yanahuara and Carmen Alto where you’ll have time to stretch your legs and take pictures of the Chili Valley and the Misti and Chachani Volcanoes. See the Incalpaca Outlet and the mini-zoo inside it to learn about the four type of south american camelids: llama, alpaca, vicuña and guanaco. Visit the Sachaca district and its beautiful 19th century church, and Balneario Tingo and its famous typical food, the anticuchos and buñuelos. Travel the countryside along Via Paisajista to reach the XVI century “Mansion del Fundador” and the Sabandia Mill, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the techniques used to process wheat with stone mills. Before the end of the tour, admire the Andenes de Paucarpata, man made platforms that create a microclimate system that allow growing a large variety of products in each of the stands. Return to the city centre to end this amazing adventure.
