Itinerary

Buenos Aires and Salta on a Budget - 9 Days

Day 1: Buenos Aires

Arrival in Ezeiza airport. Private transfer to accommodation. Check in and free day.

Day 2: Buenos Aires

Breakfast, and then at 09:00, it's time for the City Tour. Discover the beauty and wonders of Buenos Aires, see the National Congress, The Metropolitan Cathedral next to the Government House in May Square area. Visit the Colon Theater, one of the most important opera houses in Latin America and San Telmo, traditional neighborhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants. Stop at La Boca colorful neighborhood, which was seat of immigrants - mainly Italians - and now home of some artists. Enjoy Palermo, an area that combines its architecture and history with entertainment and amusement in its green spaces. Finally, La Recoleta, an exclusive and elegant neighborhood where the famous cemetery is found.

The afternoon is free for you to explore.

Day 3: Buenos Aires

Breakfast. The daytime is free for you to explore. In the late evening, there is Madero Tango Show and Dinner. In the very heart of Buenos Aires, this refurbished historic "conventillo" is a classic building of the porteño culture. A Tango Show is a trip to older times. Professional artists will show you their best art, singing songs and dancing typical pieces, shared with the best tango orchestras. The show consists of several parts in which you can appreciate 2 tango orchestras, a folkloric group, dancers and singers. Dinner and drinks (national label wine varietals or champagne FREE. Water, soda and beer FREE) are included.

Day 4: Overnight travel

Breakfast and check out. In the evening, find your own way to Retiro Bus Station to take the Night Bus to Salta.

Day 5: Salta

Arrival in Salta. Transfer to your accommodation and check-in. Rest of the day is free for you to explore the city or to relax after the bus trip.

Day 6: Salta - Purmamarca

Breakfast. Safari to the Clouds/Purmamarca Excursion:You will travel in the same route as the famous Train to the Clouds, zigzagging on lonely roads between the blue sky and the Puna. On your way, you will visit magnificent ruins, scattered houses, small villages and amazing landscapes. Departure from Salta will be at 07:00 and you will quickly reach the small town of Campo Quijano and later, the impressive Quebrada del Toro. Soon you will leave all signs of vegetation as you enter the realms of the solitary Puna. In Santa Rosa de Tastil, a pre-Inca city of the XIII century, you will do a short archeological hiking. Later, you will reach San Antonio de los Cobres, a small miner´s town rich in tradition and the Train to the Clouds final destination.

Further ahead, a desert plateau will take you to the surreal landscape of the salt flats, where you stop again to walk around and enjoy the contrasts. In the afternoon, you will return through the overwhelming Lipan mountains and arrive at the Seven-color Hill in Purmamarca, a landmark on its own. You will overnight in this village suspended in time.

Day 7: Purmamarca - Salta

Breakfast. Humahuaca Full Day Excursion:Towns and relics of ancient cultures, superb mountains and the feeling of being in timeless places are the exquisite elements of this trip through the Humahuaca Gorge. You will leave Purmamarca at 9:00 and head north to the province of Jujuy. The small towns of Tumbaya, Purmamarca, Maimará and Tilcara open their ancient charm to your captivated eyes. In Purmamarca, you will stop to see the famous Seven-color hHill, in Tilcara, you visit the Pucará (fortress) and the Archeological Museum, while in Uquía you stop to admire the local church. But it’s in Humahuaca where you enjoy in the extremely peaceful atmosphere, the typical colonial architecture and the charming people. In your way back you will also visit San Salvador de Jujuy to get to know its monuments and intriguing legends. Let the history behind the walls and stones of these places take you on a ride to the Argentinean past! Arrival to Salta at 19:00-20:00.

Day 8: Salt

Breakfast. Free day to enjoy optional tours or just relax in beautiful Salta city.

Day 9: End of itinerary

Breakfast, check out and transfer to airport. End of trip
