Northwest Vietnam is one of the most interesting and beautiful areas of Southeast Asia. Vietnam has 54 ethnic groups and the area around Sapa is an exciting place to see the lives, culture and costumes of some of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. In this part of the country the minorities still dress in their traditional colorful clothing. Each group has its own distinct color and style of dress. On this tour you will go by train to Sapa and visit some of the minorities living in the Sapa Valley.

Itinerary

In the evening, our representative will meet you at your hotel and escort you to the train stration. Board the night train to Lao Cai and try to catch some sleep, you have some long and exciting days ahead of you!

Transportation: Hanoi to Hanoi Train Station by Car, Van, or Minibus, Hanoi to Lao Cai by Train in A/C Soft-Sleeper

Your train will arrive at Lao Cai train station in the early morning and you'll hop on a shared van for the one hour drive to Sapa. The van will drop you off at the Cat Cat View Hotel where you'll have time to eat breakfast (at your own expense) and relax before our station guide meets you to provide more information about your trek. After the meeting, After lunch, you'll travel by car to the trek's starting point and head through the fields to Sin Chai village, where the Black H'mong people live. The Black H'mong are proud of their culture and they have their own language and wear traditional indigo blue clothing. You will trek to your homestay and arrive in the early evening and enjoy some free time to explore the area. You'll have dinner with the family and spend the night at Y Linh Ho village.

Transportation: Lao Cai to Cat Cat View Hotel by Shared Van

After an early breakfast, we'll say goodbye to our hosts and trek to Lao Chai village and learn more about the local culture and customs. We'll walk to Ta Van village to visit the Zay people - The Zay minority in Ta Van have their own distinct culture and lifestyle. We'll have dinner and sleep overnight in Ta Van.

After breakfast, we'll leave Ta Van and trek to Giang Ta Chai village where we can see the Red Dao people. The women of the Red Dao have very colorful red embroideries, coins on their clothing, and wear red scarves on their heads. Some of the women shave their eyebrows because they believe a hairless face is beautiful. We'll stop for lunch before leaving Giang Ta Chai and drive to Sapa. In Sapa, you will wait at the Cat Cat View Hotel to catch the shared van to Lao Cai and board your overnight train back to Hanoi.
