Dreamy days and laid-back vibes
With majestic nature, rolling hills, and the glittering horizon of the Atlantic, Alentejo could be described as the Tuscany of Portugal. Experience a unique part of this beautiful country at our cozy surf camp in Alentejo, Portugal. Live in the countryside and enjoy a laid-back vibe surrounded by vineyards, nature, endless beaches, and great waves.

Villa Tranquilo is surrounded by open fields which will give you the calmness and relaxation that you need. We will eat breakfast around the big, traditional family table and eat dinner in the lush garden next to the bonfire. In between surfs, relax by the pool, enjoy the amazing food and the great environment and get acquainted by the welcoming people - that’s what Alentejo is all about.

Itinerary

The following is an example of a regular week at the surf camp.

Day 1
Arrival day. Check in at the camp and make yourself at home, take a refreshing dip in the pool, take a walk across the hills or simply just chill on one of our terraces. Our staff will welcome you at the camp and inform you about the week ahead. Get to know the other guests during dinner that's served at the camp or take a taxi to try out one of the many restaurants in town.

Day 2
After a tasty breakfast you will be picked up for your surf lesson. Once divided into groups based on your level of surfing you’ll be assigned to your instructor. The class will start with an equipment and safety introduction and then we will start working on paddling and pop-ups: the basics of surfing a wave.

Day 3
We’ll do a run-through of the day while the coffee is kicking in and then drive to where we’re surfing. The instructors will give a briefing & warm up before surfing and finish off with a summary of the lesson. After the surf your level of endorphins are high and it’s time for lunch. Later join us for dinner at the camp and grab a beer at the bar and brag about your first waves to your newly found surf buddies.

Day 4
Breakfast and then off to the beach. By now you are feeling comfortable with the board and the waves. The more waves you catch, the faster you will develop. Every day there are new things to learn. After sunset it’s time for dinner and #goodtimes with the crew.

Day 5
Lay day. The early risers may want to take a dip in the pool or enjoy the sunrise before breakfast, while others may prefer to go straight to the breakfast buffet. Today there is no lesson so it’s time to rest your body and engage in any of the activities on offer. (Excursions are subject to additional costs and paid locally). For those who are really keen to go surfing can of course grab their board and spend the day in the water instead.

Day 6
Breakfast, surf, sun, fun and in the afternoon we organize some common activities at the camp. You don’t want to miss that!

Day 7
Last day of your surfing week. By this stage you’ve learned a lot and your body is feeling stronger and you’re catching more waves. Usually we do a huge barbeque on the last night to celebrate an epic week.

Day 8
Check out. This is the sad part. It’s over for now. You need to have your things moved from the room before 10:00 but after that you can still hang out and relax at the camp until you are ready to leave.

There are a lot of things to do in and around Alentejo and we can help out with most of them. Please consult our staff to learn more about a wide range of fun options available to you. All extra activities are booked and paid locally.

Villa Tranquilo is an old rustic house, surrounded by open fields which will give you the calmness and relaxation that you need. Villa Tranquilo has 3 dorms that can accommodate four and six people each with a private toilet in each room. Sharing a room is a great way to meet new people - whether you are travelling alone or with a group of friends. All the dorm rooms have a spacious design and a quick access to the backyard area. You can also choose Twin/Double rooms. Enjoy the pool while watching the sun set on the horizon or go for a walk on the mile long beaches nearby - this location is sure to get your shoulders down and get you into the relaxed zone. Villa Tranquilo truly is a place where you’ll get the real Portuguese feel, placed right on the countryside and with few distractions.

Arrival transport from LIS airport is included.

Getting to the Beach
Mini-bus/van to and from beach is included.

A breakfast buffet is included and served each morning, and we arrange dinner together every night (paid locally). Dinner is anything from a large BBQ at the camp to eating with the staff at a restaurant in town. Everyone’s welcome to join, so you’ll have dinner companions all days even if you’re travelling alone. Please inform us in advance if you have any special dietary requirements, and we'll do our best to cater for you.
